After a warm up of walking 160 feet on my hands, I did my workout.

Today's workout was simple: 50 pullups, for time. I chose kipping pullups, with the only requirement being that I came all the way down and got my chin over the bar every cycle (the new crossfit standard is to contact the bar with your chest, but I'm not quite ready for 50 of those yet.) Before you look at the kipping pullups and yell "THAT'S CHEATING!", ask yourself this question: could I do 50 of those? Because I guarantee that I can do 50 regular pullups (a little bit slower, maybe.) The kipping pullup activates more muscle groups, and maintains a higher degree of cardiovascular intensity than a standard pullup, making it a superior training method for those who want to be powerful, rather than just buff-looking. If you trained standard pullups only for a year, and I trained kipping pullups only for a year, then we had a contest to see who could do more standard pullups in row, I would win hands down, because I trained with more intensity.

I'll step off my soap box now.

My time was 1 minute 41 seconds. Not too bad for just getting back into this workout thing. I broke it down into 35, rest, 10, rest, 5.

  • 1. They dont work more muscles, they simply use momentum to compensate for lack of lat strength

    2. They do help cardio better then regular pullups, but running is even better for your cardio.

    3. They wont make you stronger, thats just stupid. Regular pullups will make you stronger because they focus on the muscle not momentum.

Im starting to get annoyed of all these people trying to show off how many pullups they can do but yet they have to do kipping pullups. Failure of an exercise

  • When I was a kid you werent allowed to use momentum to complete an actual pull up.

  • :/ i personally have weak/bad shoulder tendons. they ache and click if im not really deliberate with my pullups, lat pulldowns, or other shoulder/lat workouts. doing something like this would certainly just injure my tendons or ligaments rather than make them stronger. it really looks like it puts alot of stress on your joints. plus, this just looks like a cheap excuse for a real pullup anyway. fuck off asshole.

  • @Davidson22 Have you read the info box? The guy can do several strict Planche push-ups so he probably know what he is doing, ever thought of that?

  • might be more cardio but looks shit

  • watch it in mute and laugh

  • and not a single pull up was completed that day...

  • I'm dead laughing at him saying they will activate more muscle groups than regular pullups... LOL

Keep humping the bar bro, I'll stick to real pullups.

  • @Davidson22 Something tells me geoffcraft has no problem doing 50 Regular pullups in under 2:00 minutes. What I'm annoyed at though is people telling highly skilled people how to do something with no evidence that they are capable of doing equal or the same.

  • lame

  • Kipping pull ups, soooooo much harder and intense than doing 50 regular pull ups. Good

    Work!!

  • i see no pullups in this videos, i don't get it?
