  • in Australia we had the port aurthur massacre where tragically 35 people lost their lives but instead of addressing the root cause which was mental illness the goverment wimped out and instead attacked law abiding firearm owners by restricting their rights.

far easier for them to marginalize one sector of the community than have to put real money into a failed mental health services and nothing has changed in the 15yr's since then... pricks!

  • making guns illegal simply provides criminals another way of making money, of course each case is different but i can't help think of when they banned alcohol in the 20s (?) it simply made the mafia a fortune, because people still wanted it and they knew how to get it. ban guns and the only people who have guns are criminals, thats what i think anyway.. i dont claim to be an expert on this at all (and i wouldn't own a gun if i could)

  • LMAO "I'm not antigun." -Paul Helmke

  • 0:07 midwest state of arizona. i think you are wrong

  • Freakin bias reporting and keep your dumb aussie ass and dont get me wrong i like the aussies but keep your nose out of my business

  • Arizona isn't in the mid-west it's in the south-west. Lol @ 3:22 no shit the US has higher stats, it's population is larger... didn't mention that minor detail. Some interesting editing at the 1:30 clip, made it seem as if he didn't know how to answer that question. The reality was probably that he went off on a long detailed reasoning speech... the guy's job is to articulate reasons, there's no way he stopped at that.

  • @TheGeekful Secondly, a free society does not restrict the liberty of its citizens based merely on what they need or do not need. I do not 'need' a 400 hp sports car. But in a free society, that is not a sufficient reason to prohibit me from having my sports car. A presumption of liberty entails that we assume that most people are responsible and reasonable people---if and when they prove otherwise, then we have reason to intervene.

  • @TheGeekful Actually, more guns = less crime. Island nations, like Australia and England, that have banned guns, continue to see rises in violent crime and other forms of crime (burgalary). England has a burgalary rate twice that of the U.S. In states where cititzens have a right to carry (~40), crime has not increased, and in most cases, has actually fallen. There are places (Switzerland, Kennesaw, Georgia) where guns are in every house, and violent crime is almost non-existant.

  • Why wasn't the issue researched and interviews done in Australia rather than the other side of the planet? Because we have far too many responsible owners and good people to allow anti-gun paranoia to be successfully presented. Thank you for an excellent one-eyed biased report.

I can see it now.... "we need the worst place in the world to ensure this works for us", "United States my girl, off you go..., and stay away from Canada, too much common sense there "

  • More guns my ass equal less crime. Americans don't need so many guns.

  • Negus has a good story here. The only places I felt unsafe in the US were Washington DC and California: no guns allowed. From the video I saw a reasonable story. Tim Bannister of the SSAA (but comments are personal)
