PLEASE COMMENT. Day Two: I was knocked out pretty early. Urgh, this is why NLHE annoys me sometimes. It had something to do with the bad decisions that I made through the tourney. Oh well, next time. Please Comment and tell me what you think.
Sorry if I'm wrong with the cards on the flop, it looks like his 83 after the flop was on a flush draw, then the 3 hits on the turn which increases his outs to 9 spades, 2 3's and 3 8's total 14 outs around %28. The bet on the river was prob a ph..k it I'm out, and was surprised that he/she had won the pot. I would have gone all-in after the flop with your 5-6 to try and push any one off the flush draw.
on the flop if there is no flush draw, you can bet and lead out with straight draw. most likey when you check called on the flush flop your straight hand value is really low and you are not gonna get paid off even if you hit it. it gets worse and worst so just check fold on the flop or either check call on the flop and lead out and bet on the turn...
In addition, big hands online, especially on full tilt, you need to be raising 4-5 times the BB during low levels, especially in deep stack tourneys. I love your aggression, its a GREAT quality. Your bold and decisive, another great quality, but definitely work on your pot odds and implied odds (odds of extracting chips should you hit your hand). Also dont make a habit of calling with A high. As frustrating as I know you were, that last 400 needs 2 dbl ups to be back in the game, be patient! :)
You could have saved yourself a great amount by not calling the 270 with your 56. openended straight draw gives you have 8 outs. To determine your percentage after the flop, multiply the number of outs by 4, and after the turn... by 2.) you were 32% to hit your straight and you need 33% to call (2:1 odds -- calling 270 to win 540, which is the 270 in the pot with his 270 bet) even though it is close, you must take into account that 4 of your outs makes a single 10 a higher straight than you)
dont over play AK, just cc bet then if he calls check the turn, and if he bets the river fold
