dont listen to that...this movie was awesome hands down. All the ppl who didnt like it either FOR SOME REASON didnt understand it or they just dont like sci-fi movies. It well done with some good acting, directing is awesome and story line is wicked as well

Well the way I understand it, was the Prawn Hierarchy was decimated by an illness. All the prawns on the ship were "Worker Class", who either had little understanding, or little motivation to understand the tech.

The ship was also low on fuel, not enough to make it home, which is why Christopher took 20 years to collect what he did, when Wikus confiscated the device.

It also explains that Christopher might be the final remaining of the prawn Hierarchy given his Tech understanding.

i hope if there is a sequel to district 9 they don't switch it to halo or go hollywood and corny and superstar!!

switch it to halo? you do realize that he was supposed to direct the halo movie before it was canceled right? and that the main reasson district 9 ever became a movie was because of blomkamp and peter jackson's partnership on the halo movie? ok, just checking
