I was there in person with Redclay. This tape does it NO JUSTICE! I was made a believer that game.

Love this band.....all the negative comments are very short-sighted and fail to take into consideration the nature of the performance and the location. I think the FAMU band is wonderful and along with the Ohio State, Alabama Million Dollar, and LSU band represents the cream-of-the-crop of marching college bands....

Umm... duh this band had close to 300 ppl in it at the time of this performance also. For a band that size it sounds pretty good to me. Great Job 100.

OK, intonation and phrasing yeah, but the Regiment should slow it down and play with more expression...too dry for my taste. Interpretation is king with this piece. Also, the Marching 100's tone quality is good (this video cannot reproduce the sound). Bottom line though, you are attempting to compare a traditional HBCU marching band to a drum corp. Different style and intent all together...apple and oranges. Take a listen at the FAMU wind ensemble play the same.

wow....this is awful

Well ya phantom plays it better, but you have to consider the instruction level, and the talent pool. These kids were probably taught this way and never broke the habit. Phantom has a staff of professionals. I do agree that the ending was over played and un characteristic of the piece in general, but when you don't know better...

Two words...tone quality. For me, having a competition to see who can force the most air through the horn ruins the song. It would be much better if they controlled it. If you want to see how it should be done, you should watch Phantom Regiment. I get chills every time I hear them play it. And just to clarify, I have heard both Phantom and FAMU play this in person. I just think they play it better.

lol man when are people going to learn that the absolute worst way to judge a band's sound is by way of a blame video clip. The mic on your average recorder has nothing whatsoever on the human ear. If you've never heard a band in person, then really a truly you don't know how they sound. Clips don't help. They're not even close to a true sound. And this goes for a clip that has a band sounding good or bad. The old saying sticks, "Nothing like being there."
bitch theyre outside with marching band instruments playing a concert band song and its a video from 2000 which kinda hurts the sound too. trust me if u've ever heard this band in person sounds a hell of a alot better.... but they still sound pretty good here.
