The Bible teaches one must forsake (stop) all known sin, not simply feel sorry for sin and just want to stop (Jam1:21,Isa55:7,Pro28:13).God­ly sorrow works repentance (2Cor7:10-11)enabling conversion(Acts3:19). In the process of repentance one crucifies their old man(Luk9:24,Rom6:6,Gal5:24,Col­2:12 and is raised up by God's power(Joh1:12,Rom8:11,Eph2:5,C­ol2:12-13) counts the old man dead by faith (Rom6:11). Then one walks by the Spirit not yielding to the old man (Rom8:13,2Pe2-3). Pure (1Jo1:7).

@Skinski7 ... I posted your first comment, which is actually contrary to what we believe... I, of course, posted your second post, as it is exactly the position we do hold!

How in the world did you come to the erroneous conclusion that we hold to the position described in your first post???

What is sad is that Joe Schimmel, while well intentioned, himself teaches that you get saved IN your sins. You simply admit you are a sinner and WANT to stop sinning and then ask Jesus into your heart (through the sinners prayer) and then you are pronounced saved. He also teaches the heresy of penal substitution whereby Jesus was punished in your place and thus all your sins, past, present and future are already forgiven.

0_0 I'm Nigerian and I can tell you that apostasy is raging there as there are many churches and christians in certain areas of the country. It's more in the form of prosperity gospel though. Apostasy is not just happening in America or in the west, it's happening anywhere Christianity was recently or is still prevalent. The opposite is happening where Christianity is minority and met with persecution, many in those countries are coming to Christ. We were warned but God is still working.
