  • i am very pleased that you reviewed this essential laphroaig. i enjoyed your review immensely. i suspected that there might be some sherry, though, it hasn't been confirmed. you were very correct to say that it has fewer medicinal notes, that is a good observation. sadly, i have only a couple of drams left in my bottle.

  • Thank you. I enjoyed it. This is a quality dram.

I know froaig uses ex-bourbon casks and with this its the seasoned oak barrels not sure if seasoned means ex-bourbon. But I do not think

it's a sherry cask there are just some sweet notes that are some what sherry like to me. What a great product this cask strength is. Many great reviews and awards.

  • I love this scotch...very oily and smoky.

  • I actually tried Scotch for the first time today and this is the one I bought. Crazy you say? I am also a fan of mezcal, which has the same smoky characteristics as the Islay single malts. That's why I went for the Laphroaig. Really enjoyed this...tried it first straight up and was intense (in a good way), but a little splash of water really smoothed it out and brought out more of the subtle flavors in this wonderful scotch.

  • I have a bottle of the quarter cask and im loving it. I will try and get some of the 10 when I can.

  • Enjoy your Laphroaig

I love it, it's a very good Scotch!

  • I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge on whether this is a more peaty/smoky whiskey than the quarter cask?? I have a bottle of quarter cask , but need to try it and was wondering if the cask strength was more intense than the quarter cask.....? thanks...

  • @jjjj2012 har I sat in a whisky bar in Glasgow tonight and indulged in a cask strength, laphroaig, and a Bruichladdich after work. Come over and I'll keep a seat for ya. I know what you mean about rent, I have a mortguage much to my livers protests.

  • @seonidh sadly no....but i have been talking about planning a trip to try and hit most of the distilleries through scotland. islay is a must bc i have to go pick up my rent at laphroaig :)

  • @jjjj2012 have you been to Islay? Ive been there and still have to make a trip back having a friend there.

  • Laphroaig cask strength IS scotch!!! I'm def an islay fan and an even bigger laphroaig fan, the cask strength is the one .... For me at least. ;)

  • Laphraig is magical man it really is great stuff.
