In his 5-part (each 30-minute segment is posted separately) oral history interview, actor E. G. Marshall (1910-98) recalls working as a young actor in television for many of the live anthologies including "Kraft Television Theatre", "Philco Playhouse", "Playhouse 90", as well as his lead role in the sometimes-controversial series, "The Defenders". This is part of a multi-part oral history interview. To see if other segments of the interview are available, visit http://tvinterviewsarchive.blogspot.com

  • if you are a fan of CBS RADIO MYSTERY THEATER, check out my channel, I am uploading the full series, some with the original newscasts and commercials, enjoy and sub if you are a fan of the show!

  • E.G. Marshall did all that work, but he'll always be the host of CBS Radio Mystery Theater to me. It was every night at 9p on KNX 1070 AM radio in Los Angeles. I was so depressed when it was canceled, I wrote a letter to CBS in New York, and some sweet lady by the name of Marjorie Holyoak wrote back to me and informed me that the show was indeed canceled, the producer would not make tapes available, and it was a sad day. However, here we are in a new century, and we own them on CD ROM. Unreal.

  • "GOD... DAMN... BUGS!!!"

  • Classic films "12 Angry Men", classic television "The Defenders", classic radio as long-time host of "CBS Radio Mystery Theatre", 1974-1982. He added a touch of common-sense class to everything he did.

  • I just love watching EG Marshall, he was so-so talented and well spoken--to say the least!!!!

  • @brewcitybroker the horror of the imagination, the fear you can hear.

  • He was my grandpas cousin, never met him but that's my claim to fame. lol

  • if there one character in any film who i could always dote on, its his cool, articulate, stoic juror in lumet's great film, that guy was so fucking cool

  • The first time I saw him was in Creep show 1982.

He did a grate job in that movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • He was also great in Twelve Angry Men.
