Pope Beach - Sconticut Neck - Fairhaven, MA - late June 2011. This was my playground from 4th Grade to 7th Grade (1952-1956). Pifko's Pavillion with bowling alley and small skating rink kept this location very busy, as well as did Worley's next door at Red Rock Beach (where a family is swimming in the video). [Sorry about the hand-held camera movement.] Then 1954 hurricane Carol destroyed the bowling alley/snack bar and changed the character of Pope Beach forever. A wonderful place to grow up during The Age of Innocense.

  • I grew up going to Perryville (2 streets down from the West Island causeway) every year of my life as a kid. We still have a cottage on Saltmarsh, we've had for over 100 years. I love that area.

We also had friends with cottages at Pope's Beach. Been there many times.
