-Have you ever read or heard that the cell phones radiation especially heavy use, proximity to cell towers ect- causes profound changes in the humane brain. The changes are because of the electrical impulse or like the communications between nerves become disturbed / blocked over time leading to something like a divided brain, similar to some reptiles and unable to process or feel empathy. I suspect that the ratio of narcissistic types on Youtube is similar to the ratio in the general population. Although the nature of these sites may attract a bit more than its share of narcissists. Most of the vids I've watched here are about the subject not about the presenter. Of course that may relate to my viewing habits and interests.

I believe contemporary western culture does tend to make us more insular and self focused but technology is only part of that.

I think that the social networking sites can be used for narcissistic self-promotion. However, most folks don't use it inthat manner. Most people have a sincere desire to share themselves with their friends on-line. Now someone who has their own picture as the backgroud may be narcissistic or even histrionic...

i think that maybe as " the old ways" give way with regard to belief systems and the newer generations are maybe a little more sceptical regarding "afterlife" in any form thus maybe not caring what they do because as far as they are concerned your a long time in a box at the end of it then, what the hell.

There are a lot of great videos here on YouTube yet there are probably more, more that get viewed more often, that are nothing but attempts to get attention.

To take it a bit further. I think the entire Rap culture is narcissistic. In the Rap culture there is nothing more important than appearing cool and getting attention for that. And YouTube reflects that those particular videos are being watched mostly. Sad really.

Perhaps making your own videos can give you a sense of pride or perhaps narcississm, but it is not necessarily. I actually have a very vague idea on this question, I need facts. Gosh! It's quite a blurry line, but in my personal opinion, I think the majority has used technology to satisfy their narcissism.
