This is a clip from my practice session of Villa-Lobos' "Etude No. 1". It is raw, no processing, and rife with errors (as you would expect during practice)! I actually played this flawlessly around 16 years ago during my audition for the IU School of Music. I've just recently decided to return, so I'm picking it up and "dusting it off" for the audition....again. I haven't played it for 16 years, and have only been practicing off and on for the last few weeks. I'll post the "polished" version when done.
wow, that was awesome, that looks very difficult to play, great job

Thanks for the compliment. I played this MUCH better 16 years ago. It was a very scary piece to learn at the time. The forward and reverse fingering pattern for the right hand was VERY difficult to pick up at first, but the key is to start out slowly and gradually work up to speed. Once I got the pattern down, the next and most difficult part was the fast fingerwork near the end (not the harmonics). It actually sounds more difficult than it really is!

Thanks, but like the description says, it's just practice. In fact, after I posted it, I pulled up a youtube of Segovia playing it and to my surprise, he plays it much slower than virtually everyone else that I've heard, including the greats like John Williams! So, taking a cue from the ghost of Segovia, I slowed it down a little...makes all the difference!
