I love how she's in 1840s costume too - how pretty and elegant and ultra-sweet, ultra-dainty yet uber-sensuous seeming the 1840s ladies fashions were! I've been a fan of them since I was 11!

Heartbraking, the best interpretation I ever have seen. Stratas and Domingo were the ideal couple for this opera, together with Franco zeffirelli and James Levine - absolutely top.

@Kvanase Und noch was: Die Bietos, Loys, Hilsdorfs dieser Welt konsumieren Oper, indem sie die Partitur zum Soundtrack ihrer Deutung missbrauchen. Sie prostituieren die Kunst. So etwas nenne ich seicht.

@Kvanase Genau das tut doch das Regietheater. Es unterwirft alles seiner eigenen Ästhetik. Bedingungslos.

Und was Kultur MUSS, darüber hatte z.B. Schiller eine ganz andere Meinung als das Regietheater.

Klopft Euch meinetwegen immer wieder begeistert auf die Schulter, wie schnell Euch die Machtübernahme am Theater geglückt ist, aber erwartet nicht, dass alle anderen das auch tun, Euch womöglich noch danken oder sich willenlos ins "seichte" Eckchen drängen lassen.

@Kvanase Sorry, dass ich mich einklinke: Wer sagt denn, dass die Ästhetik vor dem Regietheater überholt ist? Dass sind die Regietheaterjünger, die alles andere, als "seicht" (s.o.) verunglimpfen. Ich gebe Regietheaterdreckweg recht. Was hier stattfindet, das ist eine zwangsverordnete Umprogrammierung. Und dagegen wehre ich mich - und offensichtlich auch noch sehr viele andere Menschen.
