  • It's called the mammalian diving reflex. Intended to save your life if submerged in cold water. Great for falling through the ice fishing hole, not so great when trying to complete an Ironman swim in cold water.

  • Was there about 4 people deep in the middle. Very cold water. But, set a PR of 11:38.11.

  • I'm sorry, but it's a mass IM swim start...you have got to at least prepare for this somehow! I just did this race and to see the people in the back struggling makes me wonder what the hell did they do for the past 12 months!?

  • I was in the middle of the pack, right along the wall. It was like swimming in a washing machine! Definitely not for the faint of heart...

  • I was at the front of the line towards the buoy and it was well worth it because of the massive congestion at the middle of the pack. It can be daunting.

  • wish I could have been there...my husband is out there somewhere!! Thanks for the video...

  • wish I could have been there...my husband is somewhere in that chaos!
