A mio modesto avviso, l'unico batterista che avrebbe potuto sostituire Ian Paice nei Deep Purple.

@jonokeay Well, in the 70's Tommy Aldridge, Billy Cobham and Simon Phillips were all renowned for their double bass drum playing - which was much more tasteful than the blast beating stuff we got nowadays. But Mick is great and very like Ian Paice in style. He's a sadly under rated drummer, but this audio redresses the balance a bit by showcasing a fantastic talent.

I Know nothing about drums technics but this solo is so creative,i would say original, diferent from the usual great drummers solos .Really Mick was one of a kind.To me he has a very peculiar and chalenging stile.Rip and thanks Mick.

I know nothing about drums, but grew up at a time (the '70s) when drum solos could be an obligatory and often unwelcome cliche (remember the drummers who used to rap steadily away from their sets, playing the rims, the stands, the bloody floor!), but this is sheer finesse -- reeling me in and letting me go: like an angler on the river Tweed in the springtime, after a winter of heavy snow. I could imagine him with a drum, leading a charge of berserk Highlanders.

Imagine being one of those screaming kids at this gig. You go along, expecting to hear Little Willy and Wig Wam Bam (and do), and you also get a show of musicianship like this (ditto Andy's guitar on Done Me Wrong All Right). No other band in the world could do it. just brilliant
