Charmy: High in the Sky

Here's the mission where Charmy comes to assist Sonic. This is a pretty interesting gimmick here: By pressing the Y button, Charmy creates a whirlwind directly beneath wherever Sonic is standing. This effectively counts as a temporary platform. As this stage is full of wide gaps and ascencions without much ground to stand on, Sonic will need Charmy's help a lot.

Something to take advantage of to save time, also, is the fact that Sonic gets thrust slightly upwards when Charmy creates a whirlwind. There are sometimes ledges just out of Sonic's reach; by putting a whirlwind there, Sonic can reach it quickly. These whirlwinds can also stop rockets, but only vertical ones. Or perhaps my aim isn't good enough to stop the horizontal ones.

1 minute 50 seconds is pretty strict for a place like this. You need to minimize the number of times for Charmy to assist Sonic, as each time it happens, Sonic needs to be stopped. At the beginning here, Sonic boosted across the first gap, and also across the second gap, though that second gap is too wide for Sonic alone. After this, it's mostly vertical, so you'll see a lot more Charmy after that.

I believe this concludes the partner missions in Sonic Generations. Charmy must not be very popular, at least compared to the other Chaotix members.

You have to be spot on with your whirlwinds to block horizontal missiles. More trouble than it's worth if you ask me.
