  • In the 50s, my mother made dresses like that for herself, my sister and me -- they were white cotton with dozens of rows of multi colored rick rack on the skirt and blouse -- and my dad made us all white moccasins to go with the dresses. I must have been about 8 or 9 and I thought I was a real cowgirl in that getup -- heheh!

  • I have one of beige cotton lace cloth with turquoise and gold ric rac and it used to belong to the wife of an Arizona governor. Now they are called Patio Dresses, to not offend. I wore mine to a back lands Navajo wedding with lots of turquoise jewelry and with white buckskin boots and everyone thought that I was Apache. My escort cracked up every time anyone asked him about me.
