Since 2004 La Alianza Hispana is a community partner for The Center for Puerto Rican Health and Health Disparities longitudinal study on nutritional epidemiology in older Puerto Ricans led by Tufts and Northeastern Universities. Along with experts from Tufts, the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging, Tufts-New England Medical Center, and Northeastern University we worked together to examine the relationship between stress, nutrition, genetics and chronic diseases in the regions largest Hispanic group. La Alianza Hispana assisted in the investigation by conducting informational sessions about the study and helping recruit over 1,200 participants. The community in general was informed about the study through positive media spots and public service advertisements that highlighted the study in major media outlets such as the Boston Globe, Boston Herald and YouTube.
