Do you work at the border ? another question , can I import a 1994 nissan 300zx and the car is modifed ( turbo , water pump , fuel pump , injectors , intercooler ...... ) will I have any problems to get it in to canada
if VIN starts with other digits then its 6.1% of total value
the value includes the taxes you paid on the car so if the car is 20,000 and 1200 taxes for total of 21200 then u get charged by canada customs on 21,200
seize your car and its 25% of the value for release then you pay duties and taxes. also when you go to customs bring your car with you we check the vin.
Not all US vehicles are allowed there is a list on transport Canada for cross reference. ex. 2004 vw R32 not allowed
also on new purchased after march 19, 2007 there is a green levy tax for cars that consume over 13 litres per 100 km 13L to 14L 1000
make sure to declare it at first point of entry, your car can be seized by customs if you try to declare it later, some people skip out on declaring it when driving it from the states and think their home free without paying the duties and taxes, but when you go to the ministry of transport they ask for your form1 and now you have to come back to us and explain why you never filled one out and we can get for non report
The export stamp (stamped on the title rainbow color) from the US even though recommended, its not a mandatory requirement, the main reason for your title to have that stamp from the US customs basically they check for liens,
you can't import a car wit liens on it since there is no ownership from your end
You should apply for a refund if your car is made in the US you can easily find this by the first digit of your VIN # the officer should have cross checked that first digit for country of origin, but i guess he has poor training
