I liked the ZX81. A good machine for learning BASIC on. Writing games, however, required you to learn machine code, if the games in question were those that required any, 'action', or quick reflexes. 16K was a must.

At first I thought this was written in BASIC but once you LISTed the program it looked like it was a mixture of BASIC and Machine Code. I am actually really impressed to see a Donkey Kong clone running on a ZX81, amazing what programmers could squeeze out of this back in the day. Shame about the keys though, a re-define would have been in order.

Nice gameplay....looks intresting, have to try this on an emulator. :)

I was wrong, it's an NEC z80 clone, running slightly slower at 3.25mhz...

Still not the worst DK, ORIC version has to be worse than this

had a stock z80A 3.5mhz like the speccy, but generating a flicker free display was hard work on a zx81..

Superb. I like how it scrolls up. I'll have to get this game to play on the emulator on my DS. I can set the controls to the keys.

@wisteela It'll be a lot easier to play on an emulator too... no grappling with awkward keys on a membrane keyboard :)
