"You can be an Oscar Schindler. You can be a Paul Rusesabagina. You can have a hand in stopping genocide." The philosophy that individuals can make a difference in curtailing atrocities undergirds the work of the Genocide Intervention Network, whose mission is to empower people with the tools to stop genocide. The organization uses advocacy tools such as 1-800-GENOCIDE and www.darfurscores.org in order to educate citizens and advocate for change, challenging a status quo in which elected officials assume there is zero political cost for inaction on genocide.
