Before you start to think about all the reasons why a front projector may not be the best solution for you, let's take a look at this model, the Acer H6500. It's a 1080p DLP projector with 2100 lumens and it only costs $899. Given that you can pick up a starter screen for around $300, or even roll your own, that's a bright 100" display for $1000 or so. Where are you gonna find that kind of value in a flat panel TV?

You mentioned it is for ceiling mont or table top...I plan on putting it on my bookcase behind my sofa about 15 feet away from the wall would that be okay and how do you think it does when playing sporting events (football and basketball)? Thanks!

Your question can't be answered unless there is a screen size associated with the distance. Google "Projector Calc Pro" and you can check the throw distance and screen size. In general, this projector is great for sporting events because of its vivid color and the amount of light it puts out.

I'm pretty sensitive to rainbow effect (RBE) and I didn't notice it on this projector during normal viewing.

Also, turning on the dynamic black option turns off the eco-mode. You cannot combine both sadly enough, therefore its really a choice between lamp life or picture quality (especially with the, in my eyes, fairly poor (certainly doesnt look like 10.000:1) blacks. (Considering my friends projector with 4.000:1 contrast has black blacks, and this 10.000:1 projector has grey blacks?)

Dynamic Black actually seemed, to me, to raise the output - making the lowest blacks a tiny bit brighter, but raising contrast through the use of more output on the top end. For $899 I felt the Eco mode with the deepest blacks was actually quite good. I wouldn't describe blacks as 'grey' on this project if you're using the correct settings, but certainly you can pay more and get better blacks. BenQ makes some great projectors - so I don't doubt the 720p model you cited has decent black levels.

How does this unit compare to the Acer H6510BD?

Which is better for PC gaming? Video Processing lag? Black levels? is the Acer H6510BD better in black levels and for playing games?

Hi, Thanks for the good review

Here I have an Acer H5630 720p with hdmi input problems. I'm looking foward changing for this model. I actually like the black in my H5360. Do you know if I'll get the same kind of picture with the H6500?

I already tried an Epson EX7210 which I compared side by side with my H5630 which had much better dark and white. Black looked kind of green on the Epson.

I surely dont want to waste money if I can't get better except by getting a full cinema projector. Thanks

What is this rainbow effect everybody talks about? We have beamers at school and I saw several movies on them but I never saw any bad effect. I want to get this beamer and I certainly want a great picture

It's a great projector but it does (at least to me) have some minimal rainbow effect. That said, I got it on newegg for $700.
