TSA Officer Makes 95 year old Woman Remove Diaper

A TSA officer allegedly made a 95-year-old wheelchair-bound woman with leukemia remove her diaper before being allowed to board a plane. The incident occurred at Northwest Florida Regional Airport while her daughter waited outside the screening room.

The elderly woman's daughter, Jean Weber, said the TSA officer had wheeled her 105-pound mother to a private room to do an extensive search. A few moments later, the officer came back out and insisted Weber take off her mother's diaper to continue the search. The diaper was soiled and the woman had no clean diaper to back on her mother. One can understand that the screener would want the diaper changed, but did they go too far?

Weber is upset about the ordeal and filed a complaint through the airport's website. Who would not be upset? A TSA officer responded that the screener in question had properly followed procedures. Weber commented on the response by saying, "Then I thought, if you're just following rules and regulations, then the rules and regulations need to be changed."

This is defiantly a horrifying incident for those involved. At first glance, it seems to be a ridiculous situation when a TSA officer strips a 95-year-old woman in a wheelchair. However, it is conceivable a terrorist could take advantage of an invalid in a wheelchair to sneak explosives on a plane. Is this just an example of how our nation is operating in fear?

Jeff, that is so sad. It is disgustingly reprehinsable what our nation has came to. Imagine what would do to a man doing that to a woman who is NOT with the TSA. Not only would he be in prison, but he would be buried UNDER the prison.Tears fall down my face seeing the US the way it is now. I am 61, and this is HORRAFYING . the worst part, is WHAT NEXT - buses, turnpikes, ? Where does the VIOLATING people stop any way?

The Screenings are not about terrorist determent, it is about using fear to strip Americans of basic civil liberties (unlawful search and seizure, for example). Think about it, any group who wants to do serious harm to anyone will not need a plane, just access to the internet!!!
