INTERVIEWER: "Only a few independent game developers are able to freely create a vision of their own from a top game. Finnish Remedy Entertainment has however been in this grateful position after their popular Max Payne games. Their newest game Alan Wake was produced far away without a publisher and the result is a "fresh breathe" on the market full of sequels."

SAMI J: "Alan Wake is a psychological thriller and Alan himself is a writer who has a pretty tragic and mysterious background. When Alan's fiance, a woman named Alice appears to Alan's life he suddenly starts to see strange nightmares where his first book is based on."

INTERVIEWER: "The story goes on when his wife disappears and Alan goes to relax to a small town of Bright Falls where the stories written by turn into reality in a horrific way. Horror and splatter games have been seen more than enough but Alan Wake is far from the likes of Resident Evil and Silent Hill. The fear is based on exciting and at intervals on visional athmosphere, not to a constantly following groups of zombies and blood. The story takes place in a fictional town of Bright Falls in the northwestern USA. Breathtaking views remind one of Twin Peaks and softwoods give Finns some local feeling."

PETRI J: "So the story takes place in the surroundings of Pacific Northwest,Washington, where we have a possibility to take advantage of the Pacific Northwest's wonderful variation: there is a lot of different terrain which we can utilise. From its scale the game area is massive: 100 square meters which players can explore."

INTERVIEWER: "Alan Wake offers a lot of adventure and action but the story plays an important role. The game doesn't fit into any existing category as the character's abilities won't be improved during the game."

PETRI J: "Alan Wake isn't a role playing game so Alan's progression concentrates into story telling elements and to basic gameplay resources."

INTERVIEWER: "Next-gen games tend to require a noticeable investment already from the designing aspect. Also the game's outlook (graphics etc.) require increasingly precise research. Alan Wake isn't an exception and the graphics team blamed for perfectionism has gone deep into the area with an outstanding detail."

SAKU L: "The area of Pacific Northwest is a great place and one has to wander and hike in the nature in order to find all the good staff that is hidden there."

INTERVIEWER: "Remedy has sent multiple teams equipped with cars, GPS' and digital cameras to get ideas and materials from the scenery. The investment has paid off and Alan Wake's world feels extremely realistic. The developers don't want to spoil the story by revealing it beforehand but the actual gameplay allows the player to roam freely in the surroundings of Bright Falls. It is still difficult at the same time to let the players to wander freely and also maintain tension."

SAMI J: "It sure is a big challenge that the game has a linear, in many ways a tv-series -like story but then again we try to give the player as much freedom as possible;a large area where player can go anywhere he wants."

INTERVIEWER: "But as the guys from Remedy say there are a lot of challenges developing the game but these kinds of projects they like. Yet there isn't an exact information about the release date but judging from the first impressions that moment is sure worth the wait."
