John McCain, the White House hopeful, is trying to show Americans why he should replace George Bush as the next US president.

Meanwhile in Vietnam, Al Jazeera's Josh Rushing catches up with the Republican candidate's past where he served in the Vietnam war.

  • McCain is scum. He was an incompetent pilot, graduating 894th out of 899 in his class. During his time in the airforce, he destroyed a total of five aircraft. His time in Vietnam is a crock, too. Google vietnamveteransagainstmccain and "songbird McCain" to find out the truth. It seems that he sold out his country, in order to get special treatment. His prison-mates hardly ever saw him. Apparently he was put up in an apartment in Hanoi, and supplied with prostitutes. Investigate 1994 POW hearings

  • being a p.w.o isn't heroic, he's lucky he's alive, heroic soldiers are those who dive on bombs to save their buddies, being captured doesn't make you a hero.

  • dont forget The U.S also did not pay war reparations....

  • lucirz i was thinking the same thing, I heard " I do not understnad." than it starts talking about him supporting john mccain...

  • yeh, i nobody that supports McCain understands why, haha

  • I don't support John McCain for the Presidential election campaign. Nor I belong to any party, besides...I am done with 6 years in the Marine Corps. However, I do believe that John McCain was tortured in the prison. The North Vietnamese was even killing their own people who resisted joining their force during the war. So, how was that possible that they didn't do anything to their enemies. Besides, they didn't register to the Geneva Convention, which POW regulation didn't apply to them.

  • Wow, John McCain can salute and raise his arms when he came home a POW. Look at the begining of this video. He is such a liar. Will lie to us to become president. If McCain really did leak vital information to the Russians, Viet Namees then they can blackmail him if he becomes the next president. He is a very bad man. He lies about Obamas tax plan saying that he will raise the taxes on small business. Bull Sh*t Obama plans to reward small business and businesses that bring jobs home.

  • John McCain, like any other thieves is liar. He was never torture. Making him clean up the court yard is not torture is character building, and he should thank the Vietnamese for that. The Vietnamese had a long history of respecting the U.S. and its citizens and the thieve who control the U.S. pay them back by killing 4 million of their people and destroyed the country.

  • hero's don't earn a paycheck for their heronism

  • To be honest, I don't see McCain is a hero. He is just any other American, who is willing to defense this country. Hero is only classified for those who perform beyond their duty. Did John McCain do anything that possible for him to receive a Medal of Honor? Nope, flown over North Vietnam and dropped was his mission. Did he do anything beyond that to save his fellow American Naval Aviators? NO.

  • Out of my curiousity, why don't they display other inactive American aviators, but only John McCain? Who is currently active in politics? For example, LtCmdr G. I. Joe was captured, why none of his belongs showing anywhere?
