You people criticizing Rice need to take a reality check, Rice plays straight from his soul spur of the moment, he improves like you breathe or blink. There's no other acoustic guitar player on the planet who can consistently pour there soul into an acoustic guitar and come out with the improvisational purity, tone and character rich hesitations and syncopations as Rice can. The day you can outclass his guitar playing is the day you have the place to criticize him and that day will never come.

@rickcee Wow...reminds me of the scene in Amadeus when Mozart is told be the Duke "Too many note....there you have it,"

I absolutely love this version... it is magical... !!!!!
A big thanks to you... !!!

@rickcee This is nearly the same tempo that Rice Recorded it at...

Beautiful version. Tony's voice going still is heartbreaking although the distinctive guitar sound is great to hear. Gord's Gold, some of the best tunes ever written.

Lovin me some Alison Krause. One of the most beautiful voices alive today!!!

Rickcee, I respectfully disagree with your statement. At the peak of his career Tony Rice took the role of an acoustic guitar to a level others had only dreamed of, and had the double threat of being one of the most gifted male vocalists in the game at the same time. Rich baritone voice thats still very much missed by many. I've always thought he nailed every Lightfoot tune he performed, they were all beautifully done.

@rickcee I hear plenty of rhythm playing in there too. If you listen to a lot of classic rock you'll hear an awful lot of 'meandering' too. It adds detail.

One my favourite songs, played by one of my favourite bands. Simply brilliant.

Literally the only video on youtube that has 0 dislikes. Does that say something?

Thank you for this video. I'll take any decent recording of Gord's material by anyone who puts some soul into it. I like AK too.
Terrible directing/editing though! :(

You mean that during Tony's solo they show everything except him soloing?
