Kennecott Mine: 2.5 miles in diameter and, apparently, visible from space. O___O CRAZY. You can't really get a sense of how bit this mine is from the video --you'll just have to see it with your own eyes.
It's still actively being mined, but we were there after business hours so that was why it looked so abandoned. There used to be a whole mountain there but now it's been completely scooped out.

It is not necessarily the biggest, but it is the deepest open pit mine.

I think the world´s largest copper mine is Grasberg in Indonesia, following by La Escondida in Chile. But this one is really great.
