When they switched to the computer controlled versions- they were a lot lighter and they made the computer guess what you were doing-most times it worked very well but in certain situations it caused you to go out of control. The only one that mirrored somewhat the 3rd gen's mechanical version was the Chevy and GM trucks with Quadrasteer-however none beats the reliability of the mechanical 4WS-till this day!

It can still get towed. May do some damage but it can get towed.
Most tow truck drivers dont know and dont care. The repair bill will just be your expense because you obviously parked in a towing area.
I know my friend had her car towed and the rear steering alignment went and the rear wheel mechanics also got damaged.
Towing is not advisable on these cars unless flat bed

i almost had one of these but i turned up stolen the day before i got it.

you can tow ANY car with a flatbed. it coul be a truck in 4wd, in park, will all 4 brakes locked. You can still get it up there. I have seen similar tows done by my buddy. :)
-
yep but u will still get a ticket
-
Did you know that if you were illegally parked with a 4ws car turned all the way to one direction you cannot get towed
-
They didn't do it for just one year

The fully emchanical version of the 4WS was only on some 88-91 models (3rd gen) and then the 4th gen (92-96) had an electronic 4WS steering system (as well as MANY other cars. The 3rd gen prelude was the only car ever released with fully mechanical 4WS (just to clear things up).
I have a 91 w/ 4WS and I have to say it handles a hella lot better than my step-dad's 88 without it.
-
Some other manufactures did. Mazda employed 4WS on some of thier MX-6 models and so did Nissan on a couple of Skylines. However thier versions of the 4WS were all inferior to Honda's as they only activated at certain speeds.

I believe your right jewel, but the 3rd gen was the only one that was directly connected. The other versions were controlled by computers. When you drive it, you have to wonder why no one else took it up. I think you'll agree it's lovely to drive and very nimble.

there's a reason they only did that for one year, ha ha. it stunk! Thanks for posting the video anyway. Good to see.

I disagree. It's the best handling car I've driven, and I've had some good cars. It's destined to become a classic.
