101 Year Old Plays Golf Twice A Week

WOW! He's out there playing golf with his son, grandson, and great grandson. What a great story!!

"The Long Prairie Country Club is 18 holes, par 72, stretching for 6,302 yards.

Yet the most impressive number here might be the age of golfer Martin Thom. He's 101 years old.

"I think it's amazing that he's 101 and can still be out here golfing," says daughter-in-law Luella Thom.

Martin doesn't take a single medication. He just golfs twice a week, every week.

"It's amazing that he's out here golfing," says Steve Hollander, who's in the foursome hitting ahead of Martin. "I have a hard time and I'm 54!"

Matrin's golfing routine is consistent. Before each stroke he takes a quick practice swing over the ball, then lets her rip.

Martin may not drive like Tiger Woods, but he often hits the ball right down the middle. Of course, he also has no qualms about taking a mulligan after a misfire. And after hitting the ball into a sand trap, Martin instructs a relative to "kick it out of there!"

Born and raised in North Dakota, Martin played basketball as a young man. He didn't even pick up a club until 40 years ago, when he was in his 60s. He started playing at the Long Prairie Country Club.

"I used to be able to par this quite often," Martin says. "I can't do it anymore."

He used to walk the course, too. Then he broke down and bought a golf cart equipped with speakers so he could listen to the Twins games.

Martin usually plays with his two younger friends, who are in their 80s. The threesome's combined age is 272.

Now in his second century, Martin has no plans of hanging up his clubs anytime soon.

"I like it," he says. "Some days I can play pretty good and some days not so good. But it's fun."

And if you're wondering about his final score, well, they weren't keeping track. His score, like his age, is just a number."
