The US should get the hell out of the middle east! Why is the US spending BILLIONS in trying to convert these Arab countries into democracies? Leave the Arab world alone and let them build their Muslim Utopia and just build a firewall around Europe and the western hemisphere to prevent any immigration from these countries. Israel doesn't need any help from the US since they handily defeated the Arab world multiple times already. Get out! Spend that money at home not abroad.

Scheuer is deeply misguided- no wonder we didn't get OBL. It is our foreign policy AND our lifestyle that insults Islamist expansionism. What are we left to do then? "Oh, you don't like that policy of ours? Well, just kill a few thousand of us and we'll do as you ask." This is appeasement and will lead to horrible outcomes with much more death and destruction and your point of view is better suited to leftist academia or The State Dept then the CIA.

Read the book by John Steinbeck, "Once there was a war". His statement, "The theater is the only institution in the world which has been dying for four thousand years and has never succumned. It requires tough and devoted people to keep it alive". A lot can be said about this. However, I tend to believe that the United States needs to stop propagating its wars upon cultures and theaters which it continues to destroy lives, history and traditions. The Gov't interferes TOO MUCH which creates war.

War for OIL. Get it ???

the war on terror is war on islam suppport by the west leaders for many years and arab regimes

Modern Militant Islam has resulted from Western intervention. The Arab World and Iran supported the British during WWI to overthrow the German/Ottoman Empires, but were rewarded with occupation, against their British-made agreement. Since then, there has been constant intervention by the West for oil control. The "rogue" states, small but determined, resort to terrible guerrilla warfare to maintain sovereignty, but may contend the corrupt empirical West must be destroyed for world peace.

I completely agree with you. If you go back even further to the UK/Iran Anglo-Iranian Oil company, US recognition of Israel, despite contradiction of the Sykes-Picot and the Faisal-Weizmann agreements in 1917, and nuclear ambiguity for Israel, US/Saudi 50% sharing of oil industry in the early 20th century, the goal has been control of the largest energy deposits thru "allies." When the "allies" threaten independence, one ally is used to destroy the other, or US Intel/military does it directly.

Well, if you wanted to digg further to the first root of it all then...ok then -=)

Actually I this war has been planned since before the First Gulf War. During the 1960's, the CIA put the Ba'athists in power and now presumably had Iraq, Iran with the Shah, Saudi Arabia (world's 3 largest oil countries coincidentally) and Israel as "allies" in the region. When Iran overthrew the Shah in '79, The US, Europe and China supported Iraq in the Iran-Iraq War to subdue Iran to presumably install a US puppet. Later the US lost control of Iraq too and set them up for war to control them.
Excellent exposee, devoid of nonsensical rhetoric of portraying muslims as islamofascist. What needs to be addressed is the resurgent christofascism which aim to destroy the middle east so that their jesus can come again. Through mindless support for Israel's violence against the Palestenians, they think the jews will convert to christianity when their jesus does come around. Carpet bombing Iraq and Afghnistan will not make the muslims submit to the Europeans. Peaceful trade and respect will

The war on terror has actually increased repression of basic human rights. For example it has given every nation an opportunity to repress peoples freedoms. Because now every nation rallies behind this "War on terror" and has created worse situations.
