Watson wasn't connected to the internet during the game.

Just making it clear that on paper human brains are far quicker then supercomputers. At this rate though not for long.

Exactly especially when the creator is not 1 person but thousands of people working to put these things together. Besides brains are like machines and we already know we can create machines that are faster then us.

A $1 calculator can understand and solve square root equations far quicker then I can. Is the calculator smarter than me? Like I said in my comment human brains use up an insane amount of their power on other tasks so you can visualise and feel the world you live in while you try to solve a problem. Its as if you are comparing two computers on how fast they can convert a video but one of them is analysing it in 3d creating the models and re rendering it from scratch while the other translates.

I know its an amazing form of technology but you all missed the point of my comment. I absolutely love this video and I wasn't saying its useless because I know its a very useful intelligent system. However I was just making it clear that although humans might be slower in some tasks human brains have to deal with a lot more calculations even when they are idle then Watson ever could compute at this point in time.

I don't know why everyone disagreed with me as everything I said was true -.-

How does the fact that the computer can understand the question and quickly come up with an answer faster than a human not "mean a lot". The point of this video wasn't to show the superior intellect of a computer over that of a human but to demonstrate how far they have gotten with artificial intelligence; or just for entertainment, in which case it hasn't failed.
