Well, the creators Reboot wanted to be a bit more bolder. The reason most of it was a bit cheesy was largely due to ABC's restrictions, prior to season 3.

Toonami was awesome. I used to watch Dragon Ball Z and Sailor Moon and Reboot and Tenchi with my big sister when I was about 4 or 5 years old. Which was back in 1999 and 2000. I really miss those days :(
