  • But when you are "saying" your name in sign language, do you actually spell it out with the ABC's? Or does each name have a certain sign with it?

  • @discolemonade719 Only someone that's deaf can assign you a sign its part of the deaf culture. Until you have a sign you have to spell your name with the ABC letters....so the answer to your fist question is yes and the answer to your second is yes, but you can't assign it to yourself.

  • what happens if your name has 2 of the same letters in it? like L-Y-N-N-A-E? how do you show 2 n's? or you dont?

  • @AznAshes You do this by spelling it out as in.....L-Y-N, when you get to the second N just move your hand down slightly and spell the rest. So you are saying......L-Y-N-(move hand slightly downward, but keeping the N sign.) N-A-E. Its kinda hard to explain but I hope this helps.

  • @SuperSecret23 ohh. So when Emmett spells his name he moves his hand down twice? (<- exampele.) but thanx :D Helped a bunch ^^

  • @AznAshes you can either move it down or to the side but yes. your welcome then :)

  • @discolemonade719 and dometimes at my school in the sign language club, the people that are hard of hearing sometimes give you name signs. I didnt get one yet though :/

  • @Piggiesunshine I've had plenty of interpreters use the open E. It isn't wrong. It's just a variation which many people use. There isn't a single 'right' way to sign it, just as if you were pronouncing tomato the standard American and British ways.

As long as the Deaf person can understand you, you can use either.

  • UMG!!! IM # 99,999 to watch this video... I FEEL SO LUCKY!

  • @discolemonade719 Getting a sign from a deaf person is like a gift. When you become someone to a deaf person, he or she will give you a name sign. Until then, you spell your name in the ABCs like it is above. But you cant assign one yourself, Only a deaf person can do it for you.

  • @TheGirlWhoGames Wow you have a wonderful story, and yes you WILL find your soulmate in this world :)
