you missed 2 critical steps,
1. add "inside hair peaks."
2. use the splotchy and spots tool accordingly.

i downloaded and tried an sample recording and my screen started flashing green and red and purple and it shut down my computer

Wow...Perhaps your computer is broken?
If you go to options, and then program options, you can tick a box to turn off the flashing rectangle.
