@FuryoftheFilmFan Also while most bad guys just come across as emotionless evil villians (ie boring), Luke Goss sells the character extremely well, giving him genuine emotion and the audience a sense that he really does have remorse for having to do certain things to complete his goals. In the end you actually almost WANT Nuada to win because like I said his goals are so complete understandable that many people would do the exact same thing in his shoes.

@FuryoftheFilmFan I agree with much of your story and character section in this video. I think it could've used a little more polish and the characters given more backstory. However, I disagree with Nuada being a "typical" bad guy. So far he's one of the more unique characters in recent movies. Yes his goals may be cliche but his character comes across so truly complex in nature and his goals make sense. Everyone out there would do the same if in his shoes and that makes him hard NOT to like.

I had no idea that Johan Krauss was voiced by Seth Green......O.O......
Still, I do agree with what you agree in some points, but yeah, it should have improved on some parts.

@ovo1977 I feel very similar, it's actually one of my favourite movies
and Nuada did was not there to start a war to rule earth, he was there to wipe out humanity for the pollution and destruction we have done to the environment, his/our home and to reclaim part of the earth's surface for the mythical creatures to inhabit as they had done before the truce/deal with the humans

I deffinatly enjoyed this film! I pretty much agree with everything you said, although I think I felt more amused by the action scenes and character designs because of the extragagence of it, and admire it more for putting some character development and inner conflict rather than none at all like alot of movies do today. I do agree that there could have been more character development to flesh them out a little more, but otherwise I find that it's an above average and fun superhero film!

I think the movie could have touched on that thing about the humans hating Hellboy despite all he does for them a little bit more, but I still love this movie. I would have given it silver myself, but still good review :)

I'm guessing the scene that woke fury up was the same that woke me and my friends up, the angel of death scene, where he pulls out the tip of the spear. But then turned "popcorny" when he tells Liz to give him a reason to live....far too redundant and way too cheesy.

i think this movie deserved silver, but still, good review.

Man this was actually 1 year ago? Damn...

What was this scene that really woke you up?
This film was really light on story, I never saw the first one but the 10 second blip at the beginning was enough for me... other that it simply blew me away artistically! I absolutely loved it, easily one of the most creative films in the last decade... I'd like to see Del Torro do a take on the book of Revelations.. I also am shocked at how great the cgi in this movie was, it wiped the ass of every other movie this summer apart from Iron Man!!

Paulmillr- When the viral campaign started with CloverField I thought it was a Revelation movie/monster movie. I thought J J Abrams made a movie where monsters looking like the beasts attacked and the world thought it was the end of days. well it wasn't but I really got to thinkin how would a Revelation movie be. Chilling, Scary if handled right, I would LOVE for a movie like that to get made. If done properly, it could kinda be like the MIST where you got those who translated the event as

a religious event while you got those who don't. let's forget the fact that those beasts are all symbolic, if someone like Guillermo could capture that vivid imagery it would be something Epic. nobody has had the balls to handle a revelation movie, I guess cuz the ending is such a downer for so many but man, just imagine if done.

How can you not mention the bane of the movie: Johann Krauss. Never in my life have I ever seen a movie that was ruined so completely by one character. I nearly walked out of the theater the second this character started talking. My girlfriend and I looked at each other, and just shook our heads. I said "just awful..." nearly everytime he opened his mouth.
I'm sincerely surprised that you didn't mention how awful of a character he was.

demon39063- really demon? I kinda liked him although I thought his character was severely under developed but hey, that goes again with me saying this movie had more of a popcorn feel than say..the first film. But some people like that and some people can get into popcorn movies more than others.
I think I was too distracted trying to figure out of Selma Blaire was hot or not.
