Last Kiss: A Jemi One Shot

[A couple days earlier]
I was lying down in my apartment, fighting the sleep that I knew was coming my way. Joe had called me at 12 to say he'd be over soon, but it was currently 1:58. As if on cue my doorbell rang and I sprang up and answered it with a goofy smile on my face.
"Good thing you came, I was about to fall asleep." I said as I pulled his hand leading him toward my couch. He stopped me and made me face him.
"Listen Dems, I think we need to talk." He said in a monotone voice.
"Can we talk tomorrow, I'm beat." I said as I yawned.
"No, I'll make it fast. I just don't think we're working out. I think we should be friends." He said. The words I had been warned by so many people to be careful of. The words I refused to believe Joe would ever say to me. The words that shattered my world. Tears welled up in my eyes as he leaned down and gave me a kiss before leaving.

[Present day]
I dragged my feet up the stairs and into my room. I pulled on one of Joe's shirts that resembled more of a dress on me and a pair of his sweats. I slid down my door as the memories came flooding in of the times when I never thought we'd have a last kiss.

[July 9th]
I was going to L.A. for a couple of days to film some things for Sonny. Joe said he'd picked me up at the airport and take me to my house. Unfortunately it was raining in L.A., so my flight had been delayed a little. As my plane finally approached its stop my heart started beating as it always did when I was going to see Joe. The doors opened and I ran into his open arms, trying my best not to slip on the wet pavement. He pulled me into a hug and I could feel his heart beating through his shirt, making me smile.

[August 20]
I was having a small party on a yacht around New York for my 18th birthday. Joe was having a dance off with some of the dancers on tour. I rolled my eyes as I giggled at him showing off. He was always the life of the party. I smiled as I watched my friends have a good time. Joe suddenly walked to the DJ, whispering something in his ear. A moment later I felt a tug on my hand and I looked up to see Joe pulling me up and to the dance floor. I tried not to go, but he was determined. I heard my favorite slow song and a smile was planted on my face, knowing Joe had remembered my favorite song. I gave in and started dancing with him, loving every moment.

[September 10]
Joe had texted me saying he was coming to pick me up for out date five minutes ago, so I walked downstairs to wait for him. As I was approaching the bottom the doorbell rang and my dad opened it. I suddenly got nervous for Joe, knowing it was the first time he'd be meeting me father. I saw the shock on his face when he saw my father at the door, making me silently laugh. He introduced himself and held out his hand for my dad to shake. I could tell how nervous he was by his face and I loved every second of it. After they talked, Joe and I started walking. He had his hands dug into his pockets as the comfortable silence filled the air. I turned to say something to him but as I was saying it he pulled me into a kiss. It was his little interruptions that I loved.

[October 18]
Joe and I were on our way to Disney World to promote a song we made together. On the way there he had fallen asleep on my lap. I felt his body move up and down as he breathed. I looked down and smiled at him, thinking he looked totally cute.

[Present day]
Now I looked down at the picture I held in my hand as my tears slowly fell onto the frame. It was a picture taken when Joe and I were happy and in love, before he broke he heart. Before all I did was hope that one day he'd regret his decision. Before all I did was sit in his clothes, thinking of how we used to be, before we had our last kiss.
