  • AWESOME STUFF! My Dad was a Jolly Green Giant. He was a Door Gunner and went to rescue troops and bring them back to the choppers as well. He recently passed away from cancer. Looking through all of his Medals and pics, makes me even more proud to be his son. He loved the Jolly Greens and talked about it every day until he died.He was so proud. He was highly decorated with medals and saved many troops in Vietnam. I love you dad. His name was Staff Sgt. Roger Allen Ely. He'll be missed.

  • War is a horrible thing, but it is filled with wonderful people doing bigger than life things. Thank you.

  • I'm here because of the Jolly Greens. Thanks from a Naval aviator?

  • God bless the Jolly Greens and every man aboard them!

  • @johndement was it for the crew of bat21?

  • john which detail did you do in 97? it mite have been my brothers service.

  • I was part of the USAF Honor Guard Detail for the service at ANC back in 97. It was very emotional. It was actually my first detail as 8g000. It was difficult to maintain bearing and discipline. I am humbled to have been given to opportunity to honor such great men.

It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.

    -Gen. George S. Patton
