@kooldavewarren ...Sigh...moron. Slavery,by definition is FORCED employment and you don't get paid at all. When you seek a job remember that the employer does NOT owe you a job,a living or any damn thing by unchosen obligation. He's offering you the chance to work...if that work doesn't meet your oh so high standards then you have the freedom to fuck off elsewhere...don't whine like a bitch that he "owes" you something. Maybe you should have studied harder in school mmmm?
Bush cut Nearly a trillion in taxes, did wonders for our economy and deficit didn't it? I know what can save us, cut more taxes, take away minimum wage, and then cut taxes again!
That's the 1, 2, 1 Republican Combo punch.
I'm sure it'll make America strong right? And our credit will improve and people will respect our great democracy for cut more taxes and cutting minimum wage.
I see the bright future right around the corner...
@grendel1013 you do realize the post i made was 3 years ago before the great depression my post is still valid for when it was posted. today lots of people are working min wage after the crash. but that has nothing to do with my original post. the problem now is that we let the government mess up are finances and on top of all this the tech sector is filled with CIS degrees and computer science degrees i know i have a CIS and i don't have my dream job so trust me i know what your dealing with.
So, if rasing the MW is bad for business and creates job loss, then reducing or illiminating MW should have the opposite effect...more profit (for the business owner) and the possiblity to hire lots of staff. I can do the math. If I could hire a few people at say, 1.50 % hour, that would be great for me. In fact, this system was used for 150 years in the south...it was called slavery! Great for the plantation owner...not so great for the worker. Still today, it's all about exploting staff.
I think you're a bit confused on what I meant with 3). More investment in business wouldn't just mean hiring more people. It would mean more investment in research and development, too. Better products = higher demand. And more people employed means more people buying.
Taxes should be lowered for everyone so both businesses and consumers can afford more. Too much money evaporates in Washington DC as it is.
@Death2Evil 1) Well that makes two of us. Read your history though.
2) Agreed, agreed, agreed. 110%
3) If only it were that simple. In a healthy economy? Sure. But in a bad economy no. Businesses will simply hold on to any tax break, not expand and build more jobs. Demand creates supply. Supply doesn't create demand. Keynesian economics. Why would a company hire workers to make more of a product/service if not enough people are buying, even if taxes are lower?
Empires like Wal-Mart can afford to pay more than minimum wage, but they do not offer medical as all their employees are part-time, earning minimum wage.

...and the cost of everything goes up to pay the increased wages, which is inflation. Higher inflation and higher unemployment are a bad combination.

@DEConnoisseur: So we're good on 1) and 2)...? Cool.

@DEConnoisseur: 1) Neither did you.
2) Businesses can't afford to not pay people enough to buy their products. A lower average wage in a community means a lower cost of living.
3) Less taxes (investment in GOVERNMENT) = more investment in BUSINESS = better products = higher demand = more jobs. It's just that easy...
