  • Little did Andy and Barbara realize that she would appear as a guest on his NBC variety show on December 11, 1966. Let's face it, Andy was just not the "movie star" type to appear in a Hollywood musical. Neither was Bobby Darin- but he'd been somewhat successful in "Come September" and "Too Late Blues", and Fox figured him the best choice available. Barbara was under contract to the studio, that's why she appeared in the test.
