Linguistics seminar for foreign English teachers in Taiwan

Antonio Graceffo gives a presentation to a group of TESOL teachers, teaching English in Taiwan, on the basics of ALG (Automatic Language Growth), and how ALG type concepts could be incorporated into traditional English teaching.

Watch it fee on youtube

Linguist and author, Antonio Graceffo, explains ALG, Automatic language Growth, a second language acquisition theory, developed by Dr. J. Marvin Brown, of the United States. The method is currently being used to teach, Thai, Chinese, and Japanese, at AUA School in Bangkok, where David Long continues Dr. Browns research. Antonio took the concepts he learned, while studying under David Long, and applied them to teaching in Taiwan.

  • 'Linguistics seminar'?... it's amazing how many fools there are that parade themselves as experts... what a load of rubbish, sorry...

  • @anicca000 I appreciate you commenting on my linguistics video, but i didn't quite understand the comment. from the way it is worded, i can't make out if; you disagree with ALG theory, or believe that I am not an expert, or believe that this is not a seminar, or if you are criticizing the people who attended the event. I would appreciate some clarification. remember, this is how we all grow.

  • @brooklynmonk1 ...I'm sorry to criticize, but there is no real linguistic theory here... there is nothing from ALG that resembles a theory falsifiable by data or supported by any evidence whatsoever.. I am not saying anything about the people attending the event, other than they probably wasted their time listening to this (just like I did, guess the joke is on me!).. nothing here but specious claims...

  • @anicca000 Actually there is a theory, its called ALG. and it is based on other theories such as The Natural Way and The silent Way, which you can look up and verify that they exist. what did you mean by "falsifiable" that is a strange word to use, and i believe you used it in the exact opposite way of how you intended it.

  • @anicca000 I was just on your channel to see the better linguistics videos that you produced, and there is nothing there. my real name is antonio graceffo and if you google my name you can find several hundred articles i have written on linguistics that have been published in everything from linguistics and translation journals to travel magazines. could you give your name so i could read the large body of material that you have written and published? thanks.

  • I had a demo class in portuguese for this and it definitely seemed like a very good way to teach a language.
