The Law That Knows No Law - Written by Felix Dennis, one of Britain's best known self-made entrepreneurs.
He was born in Kingston-upon-Thames in 1947.
The Poem in full -
Behold the law that rules the fates
Of all men - rich or poor;
A law that shapes our loves and hates,
That starves us out or heaps our plates,
A law that smirks at men's debates,
A law that knows no law -
A law bereft of pity,
A law that knows no sleep,
A law that heeds no prayer or deed,
A law that none may keep.
Behold the law that marks the slates
Of kings and men of straw;
That raises fools while wise men grope,
Throws wide or bars the gates of hope,
That tabulates each inch of rope,
A law that knows no law -
A law that conjures music
While moons and men must dance,
Whose iron rods rule apes and gods:
Behold! The Law of Chance.
