@FunnyBoysFilms I agree, and I think they are just trying to make people think they need all this. My EL 500's are just as portable and as I bought them secondhand a fraction of the price of this set. I've been looking at some of the accessories available from Elinchrom and I fail to see how they can charge these prices for gear that is basically just pressed aluminium and fabric. I'm refering to the softboxes/reflectors/honeycomb

We think the Quadra is actually very reasonably priced.
To use a set of EL500 outdoors will require a battery unit like the Innovatronix Explorer. As nice as it is, it's very heavy and relatively limited so far as the number of full power flashes for that weight.

Great video. Duckworth is a good photographer

I love the video. Very informative! I have a Calumet Genesis system from when I first began to experiment with off camera lighting, but now I want a more portable system since the monolights are pretty heavy.
The Quadra has the same mount as the other elinchrom lights, correct? I have a Speedotron BD that has an Elinchrom mount.
Can the Quadra system take umbrellas? I have a Softlighter that I love to use, but didn't see any umbrella mount in the video.

@TheFlashCentre, can you ID the track at 0:59, please?

@airscrew1 One thing I noticed with other brands of light modifiers is that they get too heavy when finally assembled - Elinchrom is feather light in comparison and a snap to assemble. Comparing equally capable modifiers you'll see that Elies maybe even cheaper:)

@mcheng102 If you enjoy shooting shallow DOF with large apertures, you will find Profoto too powerful. It's a real pain to have to resort to ND filters on lights or lenses just because the flash can't be turned down low enough for f/1.4 The 400WS Quadra is perfect for shallow DOF work.

@TheFlashCentre Ohh I see. Please pardon my ignorance, I'm still learning. :) Thank you for that. I'm looking to start learning about off-camera lights photography and nothing out there seems to be as good as Quadra set. Just another stupid question, if you can bother to answer please; can I use my flash unit with Quadra 2-heads? Many thanx.
does the quadra require its own accessories, or are they the same as the BXRi etc?

@Maxsdiscos there are a few accessories specifically for the quadra; 13.5 cm reflector (comes with the head), 18cm reflector (takes grids) and a 40x40cm softbox.
Most importantly, there is an adapter which allows larger elinchrom accessories, with the standard EL mount to be used. This incorporates a heavier duty stand mount so the weight is not held by the small quadra head.

He was over pumping this Elinchrom. It isn't that good. Can you imagine when he get a hold of the Profoto D1 Air 1000 w/s Monolight ,, He maybe going to shit his brain out! lol

@mcheng102 There's no doubt that Profoto is lovely, but, a kit of two of those heads is £3000. And it isn't battery powered. For the same money you could have 2 full 2 head Quadra kits, that's 4 heads and 2 packs.

@TheFlashCentre BXR-i 500 / 500 kit is cheaper but it has more power than Quadra. Why is that and what are both systems good for? Can you shoot outside with BXR-i system?

@rucka12 BXRi is mains power, Quadra is battery. Battery systems are always more expensive than the equivalent mains units. You can shoot outside with BXRi but you'll need a product like the Innovatronix Explorer XTSE to provide location mains power (or a very long extension cable) :-)
