This is a Bruunari experiment. Bruno plays on 4 guitars strongly differing in price, can you hear which is the best guitar?

The sound quality of a guitar depends on the wood used, the age of the wood and whether or not the guitar has been played.

The guitars differ in playability (with the more expensive ones playing slightly better) but this is not always true.

  • lekkker gespeelt hoor bruun :D

  • Well, in my opinion, it's hard to tell how good a guitar sounds from a video recorded a by a small digital camera like this. I think it would be much easier to distinguish the sound in person. Also, it seemed like the guitar player player very close to the bridge, giving a very twangy sound, rather than a fuller, more mellow sound. I don't think the short excerpts we heard really showcased the guitars very well.

  • The last one is a Flamenco guitar if I'm not wrong, so that is not really a fair comparison

  • the best guitar in the world is still going to sound like crap if you play it completely out of tune (manuel).

on top of that, the intonation seemed really out on all of them, they sound like they were sent through a laundry machine or something :S

  • Thank you for the video, I really enjoyed the comparisions. Question: I'm assuming these are 'stock', so on I & III (I think) is that "dead" string [sound] I hear caused by poor/improper setting of the nut/bridge or tuners? If what I'm thinking is correct (aside from the wood) I know a talented luthier could fix them, but at the price of guitar III, boy would I be ticked! I prefer a warmer/romantic sound, but for the price? The first one - along with a good luthier's re-work.

  • What was the name of the third piece he played?

  • I totally agree with L.Spencer, michael schumacher would do more with a simple VW bug than me with a Ferrari. The test would be ideal if a player with well cared nails and a gentle sound did it.

  • Number two was best
