Nuclear Security Summit - Wrap up
Imran Siddiqui - Urdu VOA Washington
U.S. President Barack Obama says all 47 countries at the international nuclear summit in Washington agreed to secure all nuclear materials within four years to fight the possibility of nuclear terrorism. Mr. Obama called the goal "bold and pragmatic," but he said it can be achieved. President said, I have actually seen progress over the last several years with respect to Pakistans nuclear security issues and wants to lower tensions throughout South Asia when it comes to nuclear programs. And I think that the fact that President Gilani came here, signed on to a communiqué, and made a range of commitments that will make it more likely that we dont see proliferation activities or trafficking occurring out of Pakistan is a positive thing. Do we have a lot more work to do? Absolutely. But I think that President -- Prime Minister Gilanis presence here was an important step in assuring that we do not see a nuclear crisis anywhere in South Asia.
