What info do you have on this song?
Wikipedia dates it to 1949, by Tim Spencer of the Sons of the Pioneers and sung by George Morgan.
The entry on Dick Haymes dates his version to the same year, so either it was an older song or it really swept the country.

Sadly I dont have the time to research every song, I must admit I take a guess. Recording them and taking out most of the excess noise sometimes takes an hour or so!.
Any information off other users is therefore very welcome. These old 78s never come with dates on them unlike their 45rpm counterparts.
I think in what you say it must have swept the country, after all it is an enchanting song.
Thanks, but sorry I could not be more help. There are more coming I have a collection of some 5000+
