A c.1983 Roundhouse Lady Anne performing as purchased on September 2008. Pity you can't smell the meths!

  • I love these meths locos's, the only mod I made on my 1984 Meths Lady Anne was that I found that with the 4-wick burner, it made too much steam and the safety valve would blow off all the time, so I trimmed the wicks back a bit, and (naughty I know) screwed the safety valve down a bit, just 10psi higher, and it made a big difference as less steam is wasted now. I'm not a fan of gas firing, the smell and noise just spoil things for me. Guess I'm a luddite. Thanks again!

  • Hi - yes she also makes too much steam when all is burning well. I might cap one burner and try it out. The latest Roundhouse burners are quieter than the older ones and a lot quieter than Accucraft. And a good loud chuff pipe (or two) helps a lot. Cheers, Chris

  • does your meths tank spand the whole width of the loco?

  • No - the early loco's had two tanks, one either side of the frame. They are joined by a tube with the burner tube coming off the centre of this. Later ones have a tank between the frames I believe. Cheers, Chris

  • beautiful runner Chris

  • Thanks Andy - a good one indeed!

    Cheers

  • What a terrific video. Great engine, wonderful layout, and nice scale speed. Very nicely done!

  • Sounds brilliant, I want one!

  • Lovely locomotive Chris, lovely and slow running...

  • Well that's a good question! As I had only bought it 2 hours before filming and arrived home 15 mins before filming - I forgot the driver. Sequences next day were driverless for continuity.......

  • Who was driving the train? There was no one in the engine cab.
