The Congress knife pattern appeared on the scene some time in the first third of the 19th century. Back then, Sheffield-based knife manufacturers exported Congress knives to the United States, especially to the Southern states, where they seem to have been sold almost exclusively. This makes the Congress knife unusual among traditional American knife patterns in that it used to be a regional knife pattern.

  • My Tree Brand Boker has 3 sheeps foot blades and one pen blade. I belive a congress knife is verry pratical.

  • I really enjoy your reviews of Case knives. I have several of their knives, and I think the deep blue with the red shield is the most pleasing of their color combinations. I hope you'll put up more reviews of your Case knives. I'd also like to see Great Eastern Cutlery reviews. (And, just for the record, there are still a few of us in the States who don't like Lincoln and reckon he got better than he deserved.)

  • You have to love that a Congress knife was popularized by a President. (Lincoln spent a very VERY short amount of time in the House as a Whig.) Lovely blue color...

  • @stschmalhaus Oh just trying to make a joke. All that talk about ugly Abe and people giving him ugly knives. Not that the Case Medium Congress is ugly. I don't think Case makes any ugly knives, but don't let it go to your head. Just because Case gave you a beautful knife :)
