Next week, four Afghanistan and Iraq War vets will travel to DC to meet with members of Congress and tell them that this war has to end but they need your help to get there.

These brave vets will be joined by a true Afghan hero: Malalai Joya, a Parliamentarian who has stood up to the warlords for womens rights and is now standing up for Afghan civilians against this pointless war.

The delegation's focus will be on Representatives who are still undecided on the question of escalation -- those who most need to hear from people who have seen the war firsthand.

When soldiers who have served our country in combat have the courage to say that continuing the war is a mistake, Congress members take notice. When theyre standing side by side with an elected representative of the Afghan people, their message cannot be ignored.

This is how we will stop the war in Afghanistan: by giving voices like these a mouthpiece on Capitol Hill. By bringing them face-to-face with the decision makers and telling them exactly what they need to hear.

We need your help to make this happen. We must raise just $5,000 to make this trip possible. Your contribution will cover the travel expenses of these courageous vets who are taking time out of their lives to stop the war. Please give what you can to ensure that Congress hears their message.

  • what is the solution is afghanistan? I appreciate the thought, but coming on youtube and saying some arbitrary anti-war slogan is not going to help anything.

afghanistan was the epicenter of modern day terrorism and the reason why our military remains there is because the terrorists who reside there have shown a willingness to reach out and touch us.

clearly religion is the problem, but how? how do we change anything, especially when we are no longer part of the equation?

  • mmmm he's very hot and sexy!!

  • I Salute You for this...

  • I'm 22 years old, how come I didn't have to go over to Iraq or Afghanistan to realize these wars are BS?

I don't respect any soldier that's fighting right now. I think they are all stupid. You want these wars over? stop shooting your gun and refuse to fight!

  • @auriculi

    whoah! GENIOUS!

  • Of course. Look, I know a guy who went back as a contractor. He loved his job and especially the rebuilding aspect. Couldn't adjust to civilian life so he went back. Depends where you serve, what goes on, your leadership in that branch of military etc. It takes courage and bravery to stand up for what is right. This is not at all concerning your best efforts. This is about the fact nation building never works. This is about Bush / Cheney regime and law and justice and dissent amid corruption.

  • Are you going to listen in return?

  • They want war to breed. It makes them 3000% profit. Thanks for speaking out and posting this. War and intelligence has already been privatized. This is the result. Wars for special and foreign interests. How scary. What a hoax and a sham. I'm not fighting for them, period. This is over.

  • @Sporkmater speak all you want. Don't forget to listen.

  • Here's a thought..... the GDP per capita in afghanistan is $800. The estimated cost of the war by end 2010 will be over one trillion dollars. If that budget was equally divided between every afghan citizen they would each receive about $80000 or 100 years income. Spending like this would certainly cast America as a benevolent nation worthy of admiration and would go a long way to promoting stability, poverty alleviation and economic growth! just a thought, plant those seeds!!!
