I have my Bachelor of Science in 3D design, and NO professional 3D designer would ever model a wine glass using extrusion. Do not take advice from this user. It looks terrible and you didn't even bother modeling the inside of the glass. You would lathe (or spin) a bezier curve shaped in the profile of the glass. It's the quickest, most realistic, most effecient, and will result in the lowest amount of polygons. Extrusion is the most basic version of modeling for absolute beginners.

@BeautyFromTheBeach Ctrl+click for right clicks on mac

@BeautyFromTheBeach "right clicking" means pressing the right button of your mouse

how do you make it so that water goes into the cup when using fluids?, because when i do the modelling i then make it an obstacle, but when water hits it the water stops at the very top of the glass and doesn't go in

Question: Will this also work if I'm to create my own characters for gamings?

@SalinaDestinyGirl Well I believe it will require some work but since this is a tutorial this is just a basic trace. But you can apply this method (tracing with 3D verticies) to your character that you designed and outlined. I'm not a pro at modeling but you get the point, right?
