@rogueremis No. It is in the best interest of companies to have workers that resemble the ones this guy describes, and has little to do with economic situations and the hiring and firing of workers. In my opinion, as he also stated, it has more to do with people above the age of 20 being set in their ways. We see younger generations able to discover and absorb knowledge very quickly with technology, where as older ones are just catching on.

I see a lot of the information age benefits he mentions going to the top 10% of talented workers, but once again the bottom 90% of blue collar, uneducated masses get screwed by technological advances. We need a revolution in education before we can see a truly diverse range of such "knowledge workers" in the average work place.

It hasn't entered the work place because the work place is a very controlled environment by the interested parties who are making a profit. For example, right now large corps. are making a killing of profit because we have this huge pool of people looking for work which allows them to hire folks who would be less expensive to have then the current worker, this allows corps to fire someone who would otherwise be more expensive thus exploiting the people in this current economic situation.
