@pipes81111 Hi as far as I know most handheld CB radios have a 4 watt output I think this means 4 watts going to the antenna and what comes out of that 4 watts depends on what antenna you have :) in short 4 watts is great :) this has 100mw 1watt and 4 watt settings some cb radios have 2 watt outputs ect but you will find most will be of a 4 watt output, thanks **Mason**

Hey what is a good output power for a handheld cb radio
-
yes your info helps, unfortunatly the only legal radio i can use is a CB am/fm, not the uhf :s. power and batteries is not a problem, also lenght of the antenna for the foot mobiles is not a problem (upto 1,5 meters). we're experementing with 'cranking up' the power of the handhelds ;)
when i first started with all this i was looking for armystyle radio's, but i found out that was very illegal, expensive and hard to come by :(
Hey have you tested the output power? Many people online are saying it dosent reach 4W on batteries unless they are alkaline. Is it true? Please check for me if you havent :)

@bben95 Hi there sorry for the late reply. I'm sure you would get a much better output with alkaline on the short run but i'm guessing it would have a sharp dip in performance after a bit of TX but rechargables would be the way to go as these would last much longer and handle more drain if you get say 2500MAh NiMH. As far as the output goes with both I doubt you would get the full stated 4 Watts I would say about 3.6 watt the difference would be tiny, Go for the rechargables, hope this helped

When the wind is blowing like this, a throat mic greatly improves speech ;)
